Content
The book is organized ascending according to ten time signatures. Each time signature has a short introduction followed by information on tempo and division variants. The latter are illustrated in time signature charts and can thus easily be exercised.

Instrumentation
The material is concerned with playing the frame drum using diverse finger techniques. All exercises can be used for different frame drums (such as tar, mizhar, bodhran, bendir etc.). The explained playing technique relates to the sitting posture introduced by von Glen Velez (classical posture).

Author’s comment
Parallel to the exercises for playing technique always rhythm variants for the special time signature were developed. This collection presents these rhythms and their variants in a way that I consider essential: organized according to time signatures and considering their respective division possibility. That means, rhythm is no longer in the front but serves as illustration of a special aspect of a time signature. Traditional or regional relations are thus subordinate and rhythms only find a vague classification if any. I want to awake awareness for the richness of already existing time signatures and for the apparently unlimited variation possibilities. Simultaneously I present a material to practically approach this world. In an organic all playing techniques find a progressive application. - Torsten Pfeffer –
